#17: G/VG (3.0). Spine stress, 1/2" split to bottom spine, corners creased, mild edgewear, grease-pencilled distributor's swoosh to "S" in "STRANGE," several pages have creased corners. Cream to light tan pages. Cover: Russ Heath. Art: Fred Kida, Gene Colan, Sid Greene, Shelly Moldoff, John Forte. GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 3.5 sold for $228 in 11/19.

#20: VG+ (4.5). Spine stress, mild edge and corner creases, small nick to back cover edge, rubberstamped distributor's mark ("MAY 6 P.M.") to "T" in "STRANGE." Off-white pages. GPAnalysis: Cover: Carl Burgos. Art: Joe Sinnott, Jerry Robinson, Carl Winter, Dick Briefer. A 4.5 sold for $243 in 4/14.

Twelve years before Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers of the American Automobile prompted the passage of improved safety regulations, Atlas took a look at the safety record of America's cars in Chuck Winter's "The Big Kill" (ish #17): "Last year I killed thousands of people... This year I'll kill thousands more... That's why I keep the GRAVE DIGGERS busy... and nothing can stop me from making THE BIG KILL!"
