Description
Impressive large Royal Doulton art pottery 3-handled loving cup issued in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of Lord Horatio Nelson in 1805. Hand painted in mottled green glazes and handles in cobalt blue. Three sides featuring cartouche below a crown - image of Lord Nelson, the words England Expects Every Man Will Do His Duty and Nelson coat-of-arms. Marked on base with impressed marks Royal Doulton England and pattern 9279, also signed artist initials LB, possibly for LF Bowen, circa 1905. Produced at the Lambeth London factory where current owners great uncle was employed. 6.5 inches H x 7.5 W.
