Description
Very pleasing and crystal-clear daguerreotype portrait of a man wearing a silver Freemason pin. The iconic ‘Square and Compasses’ design is the single most identifiable symbol of Freemasonry. Both the square and compass are architect's tools and are used in Masonic ritual to teach symbolic lessons. The subject, posed slightly at an angle to create a bit of drama, wears a smart dark coat and gazes intently off-camera. The plate itself, sixth-plate in size, is nearly flawless. It is housed in a complete leatherette case.
