Description
Chinese ink and color on pith paper depicting a bouquet of flowers with a blue ribbon border, ca. 1820s. With a band of embroidered silk along the lower edge. The painting is affixed to an antique leather photo album cover.

Condition
The colors are bold and bright. Undulation to the pith paper throughout. Wear to the edges with losses along all four corners. Along the left most pink flower, along the edge between pink flower and yellow lily, there is a tear approx 3/4 inch. There are a few minute stains to the surface along the upper edge. A few minute spots of foxing along upper right corner. Some light surface wear. Wear and discoloration to the paper backing. The blue ribbon border has become lose in some areas, including all corners except upper left corner. The embroidered ribbon is not attached and is loose within frame, it has been folded, double backed on itself. There is some wear along the edges. There is an acidic chipboard backing. The paper is not hinged to the board. Heavy wear to the album covered used in the backing. Wear to frame, framed under glass.
