Description
An antique French silver and enamel National Order of the Legion of Honor badge, the highest French order of merit. Established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, it has been retained by all later French governments and regimes.This is the eleventh model created for the Third French Republic to hang from a wreath of laurel and oak leaves and to feature the profile of Marianne on the obverse. The ring on the obverse reads Republique Francais, with the date 1870. The back features the tricolors and the text of Honour and Fatherland. Come with the original officer ribbon. In the box.
