Item Details

Description

A grouping of 4 Miniature Flying Mallard flat-back duck carvings by John Lee Baldwin (1868-1938) of Babylon, NY (Long Island). These Mallards (all drakes) were made to mount on a plaque or a wall and they range in size from 5 ¾” x 2 ¾” to 6” x 3 ¼”. 2 are flying to the left, 2 to the right (I will refrain from political commentary here!) and they all date to the early 20th century (Baldwin died in 1938). All are in excellent, original condition: a very few have small spots of scuffed paint, but all are complete with no cracks, breaks or missing pieces. One has a little hole on the back for mounting, the others do not. Iâ€™ve always thought these would make a spectacular display mounted on a wetlands mural but I never had the time or ability to pull it off.
