THE MS. GENEVA B. WILLIAMS COLLECTION OF STAFFORDSHIRE PORCELAIN
English, late 18th to mid-19th century, porcelain. Over one hundred (100+) pieces including American views:
- Cup with eagle holding olive branch and arrows to underside with bucolic landscape and neoclassical architecture
- Trivet with Clifton Grand Hotel to top and "S. Alloway, Bristol" to underside.
- American and Independence plate with George Washington, allegory of justice, and the first fifteen states
- Small platter of flowering vines with Grand Tour scene and grapevine, "vine", and Rogers hallmark to underside
- Plate of "Picturesque views near Sandy Hill, Hudson Valley"
- Baltimore and Ohio Railroad plate with shells
- Marine Hospital, Louisville, KY plate with shells
- Plate illustrating the landing of the "Fathers" (Pilgrims) at Plymouth, noting Carver, Bradford, Winslow, Brewster, and Standish
- Erie Canal plate with lace border
- Plate featuring the "President's House", Washington
Also included are a lidded tureen, covered vegetable dish, large bowl, various sized plates, pitcher, teapot, teacups and saucers, creamer and sugar, serving platters, and more. With copy of a newspaper article relating to Ms. Geneva B. Williams and her collecting prowess (Ms. Williams was an antique dealer for decades in central Illinois and became renowned for her personal collection).
