Description

English Carved Mahogany Tallcase Clock, 19th c., the broken arch crown with a central brass finial, above an arched glazed door flanked by reeded engaged columns, enclosing a floral painted iron face time and strike calendar clock, painted with a retailer's name of Jacob Holsatte, above a long pendulum door flanked by engaged reeded columns, on a plinth base with like edge columns, on a stepped base on bracket feet, H.- 96 in., W.- 20 in., D.- 11 in.

Condition

On the hood pediment, three of the wood finials are broken and there are losses to the left scroll and to the right corner. All edges and corners with some small losses and separation at joints. The hand-painted face with inpainting to white background that has yellowed, craquelure to pigment, and rubbing to black Roman numerals. Minute hand detached at time of photo. Case of clock with shrinkage cracks and alligatoring to finish on door. Pendulum rod and bob with dings and dents. Base of clock with small shrinkage cracks to apron, a repair to the right pilaster and upper trim lacking. Clock has chains and weights, but no door or winding keys. Condition is commensurate with age, material and use. ________________________________________________________________________________ ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS."
