Description
Child's Carved Walnut Louis XVI Style Day Bed, early 20th c., the arched upholstered head and footboard joined by an upholstered seat with a removable cushion and two bolsters, on turned tapered cylindrical legs, in deep rose colored upholstery, H.- 27 1/2 in., W.- 35 1/2 in., D.- 19 in. Provenance: “Little Oaks,” Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, the private collection of Dr. Donald & Deborah Bell.
Condition
The headboard at the arched crest has been repaired. One of the legs near the feet is lacking its applique. The bottom left foot has been repaired. There are two tears in the fabric on the bed side. Bed fabric and cushion exhibit some balling and thread pulls. There is notable fading to the fabric on the cushion and one side of the bed from sunlight exposure. Please see photos.
