Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States, Salish, ca. 1961 CE. A hand carved cedarwood totem pole made from 3 pieces; the outspread wings and base are separate and attached to pole. The base signed and dated: "LaFortune / Coastal Salish 1961 / LF." There are several famous Salish carvers by the name of LaFortune including Tom, Doug and Howard Sr. & Jr. LaFortune, but this pole is probably by an earlier artist or family member. Size: 15" L x 3.5" W x 19.5" H (38.1 cm x 8.9 cm x 49.5 cm)
