Group of (12) oval pantry boxes, to include: Shaker sewing box, having bentwood swing handle and interior with fabric lining, contains sock darner, and (2) pin cushions (handle with break); 19th century box with finger laps, unpainted, inside of lid incised ''W.E. Russell Stafford, Conn., 1894.''; blue-painted box with straight seams, top marked ''Levi Beal''; green-painted box, having lid with finger lap and bottom with straight seam, top incised with illegible name; large blue-painted box with inscription ''This box is for Charley + Maggie to keep their sugar cookies in''; and (7) painted oval boxes, comprising (4) blue, (2) red and a yellow, (one with repair and paint touch-ups, another with losses). Wear and paint losses; some with splits. Larger 4-1/4''h, 16-1/2''w, 13''d. Provenance: Estate of Joseph ''Jay'' St. Mark, PhD, of Newtown, Connecticut, historian, appraiser, and collector of fine Americana.
