Description
Group of (3) Santa Clara Pueblo redware jars with geometric designs, to include: (2) sgraffito-carved seed jars by EMILY TAFOYA (Santa Clara Pueblo/Kiowa, b. 1959), with green slip decoration, one miniature covered seed jar having figures with instruments and bear with hairline on the lid, the other a large seed jar with lizards, insects and steps, incised signature and mountain cipher on bottoms, along with Southwestern Association of American Indian Art prize ribbon, (minor dirt and grime); and ROBERT NARANJO (Santa Clara Pueblo, 20th/21st century), jar having incised design with steps, 1998, signed and dated on bottom, (minor scratches). Larger Emily Tafoya jar 5-1/2''h, 6''dia. Catalog Note: Emily Tafoya's miniature covered seed jar won a 2nd place prize at the Southwestern Association of American Indian Art's 74th Annual Santa Fe Indian Market on August 18, 1995.
