Description
possibly Charleston, South Carolina, 1800-1810, D shaped figured top with lightwood inlaid edges, figured and panel inlaid skirt, turned and reeded legs, ash gates and white pine rear rail (by eye), 29-1/2 x 35-1/4 x 17-1/2 in.
Note: This table has very close parallels to documented Charleston card tables. Related examples include a table in the collections of Colonial Williamsburg with nearly identical leg turnings (accession no. 1995.83). Another table with nearly identical legs and construction affinities is illustrated in Rauschenberg and Bivins, The Furniture of Charleston, fig. NT-48, pg. 684-685.
