Description
A vibrant scene of a bustling Prague street, this etching and aquatint in colors measures 13 3/4" x 16 1/4", published in 1910 in an edition of 200, cat: Novak-124, pencil signed with the artist's stamp in red ink in the lower margin. T. F. Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints.
