Rare Wood Duck
Anton "Tony" Chiado (1909-1997)
Granville, IL, c. 1940
10 3/4 in. long
A rare and well-documented wood duck decoy showing the summer duck's distinct high-head posture. In addition to carving, Chiado was the manager of the East End Gun Club. Like many carvers from the region, he outsourced his painting to a professional, using Raymond Mason to apply his paint.
Original paint with some minor flaking and some faint age lines in neck.
