This Historic coin is the First commemorative Half Dollar issued by the United States Mint since 1954, and the first 90% Fine Silver U.S. Mint coin produced since 1964. It was created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth. Designed by Elizabeth Jones, Cheif Sculptor and Engraver of the United States Mint , the obverse features Washington astride his horse. The reverse depicts the eastern facade of Mount Vernon.
