Description
Ornate Middle-Eastern dagger, 19th century, probably circa 1880s. An impressive form of Jambaya / Jambiya dagger which is the largest variation commonly named Wahabite or Wahhabite presumably after the Sunni Islamic fundamentalist movement started by noted scholar Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. The dagger features it's original leather belt, a richly decorated in silver horn handle with rondels and carving throughout, the blade is engraved with various decoration in geometric and notched patterns, the scabbard well decorated with silver and twisted brass wire and panels of laid flat brass engraved in more geometric pattern. Well used example with it's original components in an impressive size. Size overall 22 3/4" L, blade 16 1/4" L
