Description
This frame is in excellent condition. Not sure what kind of wood is used though it is exotic and heavy. The cabochons are genuine stones (tested). The silver mounts each have a Kokoshnick head facing right with one including the 84 mark for Moscow in an oval. Next to this mark is EK in an oval for Erik Kollin, a Faberge workmaster. Kollin died 7 years prior to the use of the right facing Kokoshnick, though his widow continued on with his workshop and was granted the use of her late husband's workmaster mark.To me at first, the frame looked a bit later until I examined it with a loupe and can determine that the screws are from the period and the frame was probably stored away for most of its life. Not sure who the family is in the photo which came with the frame.Frame measures 7.5" x 7.5"
