Description
JOSEF FRANZ: (1895-1957) Archduke of Austria & Prince of Hungary, son of Archduke Joseph August of Austria, the last Palatine of Hungary. A.M.Q.S., Archiduc Fr. Joseph Francois, one page, 4to, n.p., 17th April 1957. The Archduke has penned a brief note, in French, to the page, addressed to 'Cher Maestro et collegue' sending him a thousand thanks and in a seemingly playful way adding a brief musical quotation based on the name of the composer Sibelius, inviting the recipient to 'Prendre joie!' (Translation: 'Take joy!'). Some light creasing and minor age wear, G Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) Finnish composer. The Archduke, presumably an admirer of Sibelius, died on 25th September 1957, just five days after Finland's greatest composer had passed away at the age of 91.
