A decoupage rendering of the U.S. Battleship Maine. Reverse painted in a legend along the bottom is "1898 U.S. Battleship Maine Made with United States Stamps By Harry N. Affelhoy 1898". A perspective view of the Battleship Maine entering Havana Harbor with the Morro Castle in the background. The vessel is correctly represented with the American shield across the bow, union jack, American flags and naval pennant Sailors are present on the ship along with birds flying along its side. The entire work is completed in extreme detail. Each cutting is approximately -1/16 inch. It is in a period frame and quite possibly original. Along with the work comes a photograph of Harry N. Affelhoy and a letter from one of the original owners. The letter explains that the work of art contains cuttings of some 11,000 stamps and took 11 years to complete. Size (sight): 10.5" H x 15.5" L
