Enormous Chinese Famille Rose Charger, Modern, in fitted box, represents the early famille rose porcelains created in Jingdezhen for the imperial court. The motifs of peaches and bats, painted in over glaze rose enamel, are symbolic of longevity and happiness. The vigorous branch with flowering blossoms along with the fruit of the peach suggests longevity and continuity. The rose enamel was known in China as yangcai (foreign colors) because the colors were introduced from Europe in the 18th century. The branches of the peach tree and peaches were render with subtle shading to indicate three-dimensional forms, another European influence introduced to China in the 17th-18th centuries. Bearing seal mark to base " Made during the Great Qing Dynasty during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong. "
