A Sancai glazed pottery Buddha on a pedestal, Ming Dynasty, seated in meditation in front of a scrolled mandorla in straw and green glazes, mandorla with the inscription 'Wanli 12th year, fifth month, produced this Buddha on an auspicious day' on a turquoise glazed socle 43.5cm high based cracked and chip on the reverse quite significantly and other rim chips around the socle. The figure is generally very good slight grazing of the pimpled hair. Mandola with glaze lost towards the top of inscription and chip towards the point of the mandola.
