The 1988 Seoul Olympics commemorative coins were issued by the government of South Korea to commemorate the 24th Summer Olympics held in Seoul in 1988. The coins were minted in gold and silver and were available for sale to collectors. The gold coin has a face value of 25,000 Won and is made of 92.5% pure gold. The silver coin has a face value of 5,000 Won and is made of 92.5% pure silver. Both coins feature an image of a runner and the Olympic rings on the obverse, while the reverse features a Korean image of a phoenix, which was the emblem of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In addition to the individual coins, a proof set was also issued, which included both the gold and silver coins. The proof set comes in a special presentation case and includes a certificate of authenticity (COA) to verify the authenticity and quality of the coins.
