Description
Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE; Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A set of 2 ushabti, 1 fragmentary and 1 whole, from 2 distinct periods in ancient Egyptian history. The fragmentary shabti is from the Third Intermediate Period and is decorated with light green and black pigment. The larger shabti is from the Late Dynastic Period and bears a T-shaped hieroglyphic inscription; its surfaces are covered in light blue glaze. Size of largest: 1" W x 3.875" H (2.5 cm x 9.8 cm)
Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966

Condition
Full shabti repaired with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines; smaller shabti is a fragment of a larger figure. Both pieces with abrasions and nicks, with softening to some finer details and hieroglyphs where applicable, and fading to pigment coloration, otherwise in very good condition. Faint green pigment visible on figure fragment, and nice glaze color across most of full shabti.
