Marc Mendelson (English Belgian, 1915-2013). An original oil painting on canvas. A Surrealist landscape with elements of still life depicting a central bottle of Dom Perignon Benedictine brandy within a barren landscape of dead trees and a large rock formation to background. Artist signature and dated to lower right MENDELSON 1970. The artist was a major figure of the Belgian Post-War art scene, and a founding member of La Jeune Peinture Belge ("the Young Belgian Painters") movement that flourished circa 1945 to 1948. His works are held in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (NYC) and the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh). Presented in a wood frame.
