Description
This figurative centerpiece was hand-carved from a single piece of wood. It represents three men inside a boat shaped like a mermaid who holds her tail in one hand. One of the men is rowing and all three have their eyes closed as their faces stretch towards the heavens. Nacius Joseph is an internationally recognized Haitian Folk sculptor. Author Selden Rodman in "Where Art is Joy: Haitian Art, referred to Nacius Joseph as a "Sculptor of Genius".
