WWII Luftwaffe Belt Rig with a Tropical K98 Bayonet with Frog. 1940 pattern, stamped steel, box buckle, with a dark blue/black finish. The buckle features a smooth outer field with a central embossed, horizontally oval, laurel leaf wreath encompassing a slightly domed, pebbled inner field with an embossed second pattern Luftwaffe eagle to the center. The blue/black finish is retained about 85% with a few small scuffs and scratches revealing the base metal with minor surface spotting. The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse. The reverse has the brazed buckle catch, prong bar and prongs all intact and is well marked with impressed manufacturers initials and date, "IKA-42". Matching condition Leather belt is size marked 85cm. Also on the belt is a K98 Ammo Pouch. Early pattern, brown pebbled leather construction, three compartment ammo pouch. Lastly, K98 Tropical Frog and Bayonet. Roughly 25cm long, drop forged, steel construction blade with wide fullers. Blade retains most of it's original Parkerizing. Maker marked "ASW 42". Scabbard does not match. Bakelite grip. Stud functions well. Nice worn and used example showing the expected age and wear with the rare tropical frog. Woven, khaki/tan, canvas web construction bayonet frog with a dual layered rectangular base with an opened belt loop to the top edge and a stitched on front bayonet pocket to the bottom edge. The central area of the frog has a horizontal khaki/tan canvas retaining strap inserted and stitched between the two layers of the webbing, just below the top belt loop. The horizontal retaining strap has a steel stud to one side with a corresponding stud eyelet to the other side. The bayonet retaining pocket to the bottom front has a vertically oval, stitch reinforced, bayonet scabbard lug eyelet.
