"Chance Has A Whip" by Raymond Holden, published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1935. First Edition, First Printing with "1935" on the title page and copyright, Scribner's colophon and 'A' on the copyright page.
Hard boards, original cloth with gold lettering on front board and spine, [a little soiling and wear], 5.3/4" x 8.1/4"; 398 pages, very good condition.
The author's first novel to appear under his own name (he had previously published a biography of Lincoln and two pseudonymous detective novels.
Raymond Peckham Holden (1894-1972) was a novelist, poet and publisher. Holden worked for several prominent American magazines, including The New Yorker, Reader’s Digest, and Newsweek. He also authored his own books and contributed poetry to journals.
