Description
Crisp uncirculated plastic wrapped brick of ten packets of 10000 afghanis banknotes. The 10,000 Afghanistani Afghani note was issued by Da Afghanistan Bank in 1993 to address hyperinflation due to the Soviet invasion. Obverse: Black, deep olive-green and deep blue green on multicolor underprint. Bank arms with horseman at top center. At right is The Great Mosque of Herat or "Jami Masjid of Herat", a mosque in the city of Herat, in the Herat Province of north-western Afghanistan. It was built by the Ghurids, under the rule of the Sultan Ghiyath al-Din Muhammad Ghori, who laid its foundation in 1200 CE, and later extended by several rulers as Herat changed rulers down the centuries from the Timurids to the Safavids, Mughals and then the Uzbeks, all of whom supported the mosque. Though many of the glazed tiles have been replaced during subsequent periods, the Friday Mosque in Herat was given its present form during the closing years of the fifteenth century. Reverse: Arch of Qala-e-Bost, Lashkargah Center. Qala-e-Bost is a fortress in Bost, Afghanistan, built 3000 years ago. It is located near the convergence of the Helmand and Arghandab Rivers, a half-hour's drive south of Lashkargah. Qala-e-Bost is famous for its 11th century decorative arch. The arch is part of the remains of a mosque. Lettering: Da Afghanistan Bank. Watermark: Seal of the Bank of AfghanistanDate: Country (if not USA): AfghanistanState: City: Provenance:
