$1,000 bond no. 2064, issued in 1871 to John Edgar Thompson of Philadelphia. Signed by president James Crew and secretary John Cushman. Punch cancelled. Signed on the back by J. Edgar Thomson as trustee. He was entrepreneur of 19th century America best known for his leadership of Pennsylvania Railroad from its 1852 founding to his 1874 death. Green border, gold underprint, and two different locomotive vignettes. Printed by Seibert & Bros. RN-W2 imprinted revenue on the left side. Six coupons remaining. 13 x 16.5" Folds, some separation along fold. Castenholz pg. 55.
