Description
STAMPED "B. C MILBURN / ALEXA", ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "1 1/2" gallon capacity mark, semi-ovoid form with squared rim, collared neck, incised shoulder ring, and arched tab-like handles. Brushed cobalt "Alexandria Motif" sunflower and foliage decoration on front and three horizontal feathered-leaf ornaments on reverse shoulder. Benedict Calvert Milburn (1805-1867), Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA. 1841-1861. 10" HOA, 7" D rim.
