Description
Miniature painting depicting a Brahmin performing puja to the aniconic form of Shiva (linga) with five faces (mukha). The scene occupies the right-hand side of the painting and takes place in the sanctum sanctorum (also distinguished by the red background, reserved for deities) of a white marble temple drawn in multiple perspective. On the same plane, to the left, we find three men attending the ritual and praying. The first of them is equipped with a halo identifying him as a nobleman and a high rank character. In the upper part of the painting, two other mandirs (temples) dedicated to other deities and made proportionally smaller as they are in the distance.
