Description
Ancient region of Gandhara, Hadda style, 3rd-4th century. Sitting in a kneeling position and dressed in a long sanghati, clutching a garland in both hands, the face serene and the head shaved as is customary for a monk. Mounted to a recent base.
Condition: With notches, material loss, repairs, and traces of age and wear. Remnants of old pigment.
Provenance: Private collection, Belgium, according to the previous owner acquired at Galerie Carre des antiquaries, Versailles, c. 2000.
