Description
Burma/ Myanmar, Pyu city states (200-1000 AD). The semi translucent agate of an even maroon color. Carved as a seated primate with legs bent and hands resting on its knees, its face bears a melancholic expression, while its ears droop downwards. Despite its simplicity, the carving captures the essence of the monkey's emotions and demeanor. Drilling through the back of the neck and between the feet, showing ancient toolmarks and allowing for suspension as a pendant.
