A BLUE AND IRON-RED 'MENG HAORAN' SNUFF BOTTLE, QING
China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Of cylindrical form with a cylindrical neck and recessed base. The bottle finely decorated in underglaze blue and iron red, depicting Meng Haoran riding a donkey and crossing a stone bridge over a small stream, followed by his attendant, carrying a branch of peaches over his shoulder, the shoulder minutely painted with geometric and floral designs. The recessed base with an apocryphal six-character Yongzheng reign mark.
Condition: Shows traces of wear and age, manufacturing flaws, such as firing irregularities and dark spots, fritting to rims, and a large chip to the foot.
