Description
Himalayan region, 18th century or earlier. Each of irregular rectangular shape with rounded borders, the polished semi translucent stones of warm cinnabar and creamy orange tones with pale and dark brown bands and fingerprints, well-polished and with central drilling showing manual toolmarks. All mounted on modern stands.
Condition: With some wear and few small, smoothened nicks. Two with a repaired breakage to the lower area, one with fissures. Overall presenting well.
Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
