300 Million Year old Fossil Plant, Annularia, an extinct horsetail plant leaf, from the Pennsylvanian of the infamous Mazon Creek outcrop of Illinois. Terrific preservation on an ironstone concretion. The leaf measures about 1 1/4". The concretion measures 1" X 2" & is displayed in a 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" museum case. Mazon Creek is a fossil site located in Illinois that dates to about 300 million years ago, world renowned for fossils of items that usually decompose quickly, like fern fronds, worms, jellyfish, and other soft tissue preserved in ironstone concretions in exquisite detail.
