Features translations of works of Horace (at least some with adaptations to fit American and Revolutionary circumstances) as well as original poems, and a play, by Peake, a Delaware resident who served during the American Revolutionary War. Also features what appear to be translations of works by Anacreon, Ovid and Virgil.

Features a four-page dedication to George Washington; certain portions are "addressed" to various personages (including Benjamin Franklin, the Marquis de Lafayette, Louis XVI, John Dickinson and Caesar Rodney). Also features a partial list of subscribers at back and a frontispiece. The book appears to have been rebound and reads "Miscel Poems" on the spine, with "404[4?]" written above.

CONDITION: Front board is detached, with old tape stuck to its side. Back board is mostly detached and is partially connected to the spine by old tape. Boards have bending and some learther loss at corners. Missing list of subscribers after the start of the letter 'L'; missing entirety of errata; missing entirety of addenda. A top corner of pages 107-108 has been torn off and is missing. Pages 329-332 are partially detached from the binding. Some wear to spine, including loss of leather at top and bottom. Front free endpaper partially torn and crinkled. Foxing and staining. Binding is in good condition for the book's age. Wear consistent with age and use.
