Two Dutch tin glazed blue and white tobacco jars
second half 18th century
Each surmounted by a brass lid, one inscribed Sigaren De Hoop No. 8, with three bells mark for De Drie Klokken; the other De tabaksplantagie depicting workers on a tobacco plantation, with three lozenge mark.

Condition
The first (Sigaren de Hoop) with scattered pinpricks and dimples to glaze, some black; some popped air bubbles; chips to glaze at rim and footrim, some rubbing to top of jar from lid; overall wear and rubbing, scattered abrasions, small tan paint line; the lid with typical wear and rubbing, dings and dents, some polish residue in crevices. The second (De Tabaksplantagie) with scattered dimples and pinpricks, some black; chips to glaze at rim and footrim, rubbing to top of jar from lid; lid with bending to finial, typical wear, rubbing and dings and dents, polish residue in crevices. Each with heavy wear to interior from use.
