While growing up, his artistic talents were greatly encouraged by his father, who was also a painter. Today, the artistic genes of the Nesvadba family havepassed to his son, Christian, who professionally paints under Gerhard's guidance.In 1968, his artwork was exhibited for the first time in an international exhibition in Stockholm, Sweden. This first exhibition was followed by many years of exhibitions across Europe. While traveling, his love for landscapes and strong feelings for harmonizing colors learning other foundations of his trade became the distinct focus of his works. His works have been collected across Europe and the United States and can be found in private and public collections including the Graphic Collection (Vienna), Municipal Museum (Hamburg), and Collection of the Ministry for Art and Education(Vienna).
