Description
Ann Rutherford 'Careen O'Hara' Personal Partial Script from Gone with the Wind.
Selznick, 1939. Studio bound and bradded 37-pink revision page partial screenplay written by Sidney Howard and Oliver H. P. Garrett, dated 'January 21, 1939'. This partial script is comprised of the first scene of the film until the end of the barbeque scene where 'Scarlett O'Hara' (Vivien Leigh) accepts 'Charles Hamilton's' (Rand Brooks) proposal while looking longingly through the window as her true love, 'Ashley Wilkes' (Leslie Howard) kisses 'Melanie Hamilton' (Olivia de Havilland) and goes off to enlist in the war. Ann Rutherford's character, 'Carreen O'Hara' is featured in this segment of the script as she arrives at the barbeque. Rutherford was a hard-working actress who did not save memorabilia from her career. It was a complete surprise when, in her later years, she discovered a trunk of scripts from her films, which her mother had saved from the trash. This script was among those rescued relics. Accompanied by a letter on 'Ann Rutherford' personal letterhead signed to Chris Sullivan, 'Ann' and dated 'August 22, 2009'. Written when Rutherford gifted the script to Chris Sullivan. Exhibiting expected age, production wear, and handling.
