"Berlinart 1961-1987" at the Museum of Modern Art was a show of the artists active in West Berlin since the construction of the Berlin Wall. The west part of Berlin, belonging politically to the West Germany was totally cut off from the east part of the city and surroundings which were the part of the Soviet sector. Becoming in 1961 an almost isolated island, the West Berlin attracted many artists and had a vital cultural life. The MOMA's exhibition presented one hundred and fifty works by fifty-five internationally recognized artists active in West Berlin.
