With 10 mounted color plates after William Russell Flint. 26.5x19 cm (10½x7½"), full orange morocco by Bumpus, covers ruled in zig-zag gilt flanked by thin brown morocco inlays, panel stamped in gilt and inlaid with red and green morocco in fan and floral motifs, similar floral motifs on spine with title in gilt and raised bands, turn-ins with zig-zag rules flanked by inlaid brown morocco borders, stamp-signed in gilt on front turn-in, all edges gilt. No. 454 of 500 copies printed on handmade Riccardi paper.
First in a series of finely-printed editions by Sir William Russell Flint. One of the Bumpus bindery's more ornate bindings, evoking the Flint's illustrations of the Biblical love song.
Condition
Covers slightly soiled, hint of freckling, top right corner minor bump; inlays offsetting, occasional minimal spotting; overall near fine.
