Collection of eight 8 x 10 in. color lobby cards for the 1955 movie ‘The Cockleshell Heroes’ based on Operation Frankton., each featuring a different still from the film. Chipping, very light soiling; WITH an A.L.S. penned by one of only two survivors and the leader of the operation HERBERT ‘BLONDIE’ HASLER, 1p. 8vo., Scotland, June 11, 1984, thanking his correspondent for pictures sent; WITH an envelope in which BILL SPARKS fills in his name and address, another survivor of the operation; WITH a formal invitation to the Dec. 11, 1983 unveiling of the commemorative monument built in honor of the men who lost their lives during the operation. Sold with a first day postal cover in honor of the ‘Invasion Operation Gambit’, signed by GEORGE B. HONOUR, the commander of the operation. Twelve pieces, overall very good. Operation Frankton was a commando raid on ships in the German occupied French port of Bordeaux in southwest France, Dec. 7-12, 1942.
