Description
20th century, American (Cincinnati, OH). A stunning Arts & Crafts Rookwood Pottery vessel from 1908 by Kataro Shirayamadani (1865–1948). It is detailed with incised rosette patterns and covered in a sublime green matte glaze. Marked with the Rookwood symbol, the date, mold 1128, a V for Vellum and Shirayamadani's incised Japanese signature.
There is some crazing throughout the piece and pinpoint burst glaze bubbles, which is a fairly common occurrence. Crack on the bottom as pictured. This is a wonderful and highly collectible piece of fine Rookwood Pottery from the original factory.
Measures 8.0" H x 8.0" D.
