American, 19th century. A primitive child's rocking chair with incorporated potty in hard wood; ht. 23.5, wd. 15, dp. 17 inches.
Fair condition. Some loss to wood throughout and right side has been patched with a metal plate. Splitting/cracking throughout.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
