Description

Circa 1850 by George Richmond Collis and Company of London, likely for the South Carolina market. Very fine example having nice form and having been chased brilliantly. One side is handsomely centered by a Palm or Palmetto Tree family crest The crest of the Palmer Family likely relating to the family of Thomas Palmer of the Union District and Charleston South Carolina marrying into the Alston family. Above this at the rim is the maker's mark again at the underside as well. The piece is accompanied also by a nice rubbing of the family crest framed. 882 grams standard H10 1/4" Sold from the collection of Mrs. Alice L. Patrick of Charleston, South Carolina.
