Description
Antique Burmese (Myanmar) repousse silver Thabeik bowl, late nineteenth century, apparently unmarked, of typical form with heavily repousse-worked sides depicting agrarian fields, heavily peopled. Weight: 4.59 ozt.; 2.5" H x 4.75" diameter. Provenance: From the collection of Le Lieu and Malcolm Browne (American, 1931-2012), the photojournalist who took the 1963 award-winning photograph of the self-immolation of Buddhist Monk Thic Quang Duc (Vietnamese, 1893-1963).
