Bill Blass for Maurice Rentner Blue Velvet Coat with Sable Trim, 1968

Dark blue velvet evening coat with heavy gold-colored braid trim on sleeves and front. Large rhinestone and gold-tone filigree buttons; front button closure; mandarin collar, ankle length and trimmed in sable.

A similar version of this coat is held in the Costume Collection at the Chicago History Museum.

The overall condition is good with a 3.5" popped seam in the interior linning near the waistband, one button has come loose but is included with the lot, the bottom filigree button is missing the rhisnetone in the center.
