maker IM, Edinburgh 1809, comprising teapot, cream and sugar, rounded rectangular, the teapot with flush hinged cover and ivory handle insulators, all with an engraved band of scrolling foliage above a reeded shoulder band, with ropetwist engraved vacant oval cartouches to each side, the cream and sugar both gilded to interior and with strap handles, each raised on four ball feet. (3) Teapot 29cm handle to spout, 36.2 troy ounces gross

Marks well spaced and well struck to teapot base, lightly rubbed to cream and sugar. All stand upright, slight diagonal rocking between feet to all three - some ball feet worn with flat with small holes to base. Teapot cover hinge very slightly loose, but sturdy. Gilding to cream and sugar very clean and strong, not worn. Casting seam line visible internally and externally at one end of the sugar, no actual gapping or split though. Light surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. In very good condition.
